The Inevitable End began as a series of improvisations performed on two EMS VCS3 synthesizers at MESS in January 2019. Revisiting it during this period of isolation, a few other processes were explored to enhance the brutality, but eventually those ideas were all jettisoned in order to remain true to the original performances and the original tone of the instruments.

Coming back to finish this project now has a lot to do with the current political atmosphere, especially as many of us might struggle to maintain our health and sanity during this difficult time. As we struggle to survive the economic upheaval, as we witness the threads of civilisation unravel around us, the power and energy of improvisation and noise are necessary ingredients for the rejuvenation of our collective resilience.

A beautiful man named Sean Baxter would have said it better, and I was so looking forward to playing this music to him. I offer it instead in dedication to the memory of his uncompromising spirit. With love. \m/

This album was made on the stolen land of the Boon Wurrung and Woiwurrung (Wurundjeri) peoples of the Kulin Nation. I pay my respects to the traditional owners of this land and to their elders past and present. I acknowledge the genocide, I acknowledge that sovereignty was never seeded, and I acknowledge the need for a treaty now!
